Sales budget

The quantitative and financial statement dealing with the targeted sales during a specific period prior to the start of the period.

Sales

1) The delivery of goods in exchange for cash or a promise to pay. 2) An agreement or contract to transfer title of ownership of property or movable goods from the seller to the buyer for a definite price. Also sales revenue.

Sale ring

A circle of purchasers at an auction. An informal grouping to corner the bid.

Sale-repurchase spread

The difference between the sale and repurchase price expressed as a percentage of the net asset value of a Mutual Fund unit or instrument.

Sale and purchase load

Shows the premium/discount to NA at which the investor can enter/exit the scheme or Mutual Fund instrument.

Getting cash by selling an asset and leasing it back in a long term contract. A legal method of acquisition of funds and cash management.

Salary structure

Comprises different salary grades and their different levels of jobs or groups of jobs. The structure is a coordinated logical scheme of remunerations covering different functions, levels and responsibility centres.

Salary progression

Procedures and guidelines which will help to relate increase in salary to the performance of the employee in additional to such factors as seniority, responsibility and personnel structures.

Salary budget

A forecast statement in financial terms or the planned allocations and use of resources to adequately compensate members of the organisation.

Salary administration

Systems and procedures designed for purposes of efficiently managing the compensation of organiational members.

Salary

Amount paid to a person on a weekly, monthly or annual rate rather than on an hourly rate. It is a stipulated regular reward for services rendered and responsibilities carried.

Safely stock

An extra supply of materials kept in reserve to complete a production run or for utilization if there are above-normal requirements during the time needed to receive fresh materials. This is a reserve stock to prevent stock-outs (production interruptions due to shortage of materials) or back-orders (return customers for lack of stock) in conditions of uncertain lead time and consumption/usage rate.

Safety net

Any systematic scheme of security or safety or against hazard, disablement, unemployment or other forms of working or personal risks of employees or a group of targeted people.

Safe engineering

Examination and analysis of potentially risky conditions in a plant or other industrial environment and adopting steps to stave off accidents. Also technology for reducing risks in the design and operation.

Safe custody

One of various services offered by banks to their customers; they provide lockers to their customers for keeping their valuable materials in them against payment of some charges by way of rent. Generally, keeping trust of valuables on behalf of others.

Sabbatical

A leave of absence of absence with pay granted periodically for a special purpose. Leave granted to a university teacher every seventh year for study or travel.
